The Bridge: A Cuban Guitar Recital
One of Cuba’s most internationally acclaimed guitar duos, The Bridge’s Eduardo Martín and Ahmed Dickinson merge classical styles and rock with Cuban son montunos; old Yoruba chants, feel-good rumbas, funk- boleros, new age tunes and cinematic pieces, all sitting alongside Cuban tumbaos drums and slap bass.
Like many other Cubans and Caribbean people in general, they enjoy a natural sense of rhythm. The guitar is their favoured instrument, which idiomatically conveys all the melodic and rhythmic intricacies of the regions cultural diversity.
Transforming their concerts into a vehicle that connects, incorporates and juxtaposes their different generations, it is a spiritual-like journey that drives their thrilling yet soothing performances.
